Review of Outpatient Team 3

Nurse was kind and honest and professional at her job

Suggested improvements
Have this available at queen's hospital. Barking hospital is far for me to travel, especially as I have autism and complex post-traumatic stress disorder. I get overwhelmed on public transport.

Most staff were pleasant, compassionate and helpful. The reason ‘very good’ has not been given is, whilst on eSDEC my breathing deteriorated and I felt nauseous, I called out and informed a nurse who did nothing about it. At 7am I called my wife who came straight to the hospital and spoke to the Sister who knew nothing about the deterioration in fact told my wife I had no deterioration at all. This clearly was not the case. I eventually got a nebuliser at midday.

Suggested improvements
Ensure all nurses, not just some, listen to the patient, take on board what is being relayed to them and act accordingly to their patient.

Nurses was nice but was very busy stressed and unorganised as they was so busy

Suggested improvements
Feel like more is structure needs go be in place or more staff. I also had to wait over 4 hours for my CT scan results as they needed to be signed off by someone in Australia I don’t think this works a doctor should be able to sign them off in the hospital.

All staff were kind and helpful (despite being very busy) and I received faultless care and communication from everyone that dealt with me.

Suggested improvements
Nothing. The whole experience was faultless even though the pressures on the system were evident. That is down to the amazing staff who consistently put the patients before themselves.

Hi only 1 things to say from me it was the reception who made a mistake in my case was I was supposed to register in a&e not urgent care unit I had to wait 5 hours for no reason with a very painful cut on my face then I was told to go to a&e doctors escort me to a&e but still had to wait 8 hours in a&e so the doctor saw me the checkups x-ray everything I was I was then transferred to queen hospital again to specialist surgery in Queens hospital. Had to wait another three hours in Queens. Then I was seen finally treated but I can’t blame the hospital and anybody because it’s too many people waiting in every hospital. I thank you for NHS to treat me well, thank you

Suggested improvements

Was sent to wrong department and then was shouted at by a nurse about it. Waited 4 hours to see a doctor after my scan. Not checked in all that time. Then staff rush to do vitals for doctor just before being seen. Doctor was appalling had no idea why I was there, hadn’t looked at CT results and spoke to me in a very patronising manner. Ended up going to another hospital the next day who diagnosed me and gave advice.

Suggested improvements
Staff standing about for hours instead of doing any work could be given tasks. Don’t let ambulance staff use a&e as their break room.

13 hour wait and no updates at all during that time. However the fadt tracking to ED was fast and professional. Once treatment started could not fault it. Appreciated food and drink being brought to us while we waited.

Suggested improvements
Updates during such a long wait could have allowed me to go to reception area for a break from sitting outside ED.
